It was still the first day of the week. That evening, while the disciples were behind closed doors because they were afraid of the Jewish authorities, Jesus came and stood among them. He said, “Peace be with you.” After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. When the disciples saw the Lord, they were filled with joy. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father sent me, so I am sending you.” Then he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” -John 20:19-22
I know that everything Easter will now be 75% off in the stores. But Easter is NOT over! Like Christmas, Easter is really a season. We begin with celebrating that Jesus has risen from the dead! And maybe because that is so mind-boggling, we take 50 days to let that sink in. Jesus is alive, huh? Death doesn’t have the last word after all? I’m forgiven and so are they? God’s love really is inexhaustible?
Well, that probably means some changes around here. . .
The Eastertide season gives us time to adjust to resurrection. Today, keep reveling in the Good News. Hear the risen Jesus say, “Peace be with you” to your soul.
Then see what difference that makes in your life.
